The Stable School, part of the Melrose Education Group, is excited to announce its participation in UNICEF UK’s Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) programme. The school is actively working towards achieving the Bronze award, demonstrating its commitment to promoting children’s rights and creating a safe, inclusive environment for all learners.
The Rights Respecting Schools Award is a UNICEF initiative that encourages schools to place the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) at the heart of their ethos and curriculum. By signing up for this accreditation, The Stable School is taking steps to embed these principles into everyday school life, empowering learners to know their rights and respect the rights of others.
John Shanahan, Principal of The Stable School, shared his excitement about the programme:
“We are thrilled to embark on this journey with UNICEF’s Rights Respecting Schools Award. At The Stable School, we believe that every young person has the right to feel valued, heard, and respected. Working towards the Bronze award is an important step in ensuring that our learners understand their rights and the rights of those around them. It’s not just about accreditation – it’s about creating a culture of respect, equality, and empowerment that will stay with our learners for life.”
As part of the RRSA programme, The Stable School will focus on raising awareness about children’s rights and responsibilities, engaging with the wider school community, and fostering a positive learning environment where every learner can thrive. The school is committed to involving learners, staff, and parents in this process as they work towards achieving the Bronze award, the first stage of the accreditation.
The Melrose Education Group is proud to support The Stable School in this initiative, furthering its mission to nurture inclusive, child-centred education across all its schools.
