School Games Gold for The Stable School

The Stable School, which is part of the Melrose Education group of schools, is proud to have been awarded the prestigious School Games Gold Accreditation for the 2023/24 academic year. This accolade recognises the school’s outstanding commitment to physical education, sports, and the holistic development of its learners.

The School Games Mark is a government-led awards scheme, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, that aims to reward schools for their dedication to the development of competitive sport across their school and into the community. The Gold accreditation signifies that The Stable School has excelled in areas such as learner engagement in physical activities, participation in inter-school competitions, and fostering strong links with local sports clubs and organizations.

The Stable School’s ethos focuses on nurturing the mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing of all learners. The integration of sports and physical activities into daily life plays a significant role in helping learners build confidence, improve teamwork, and develop resilience. This award is a testament to the school’s ongoing efforts to provide a well-rounded, inclusive education that supports the unique needs of each individual learner.

John Shanahan, Principal of The Stable School, expressed his pride in the achievement, stating:

“We are incredibly proud to have achieved the School Games Gold Accreditation for 2023/24. At The Stable School, we believe that physical activity is not only crucial for physical health but also for mental wellbeing. This award reflects our commitment to offering every learner the opportunity to discover the joy of sport and physical activity in a supportive and inclusive environment. Our dedicated staff and enthusiastic learners have worked hard to make this possible, and this achievement truly belongs to the whole school community.”

The Gold accreditation highlights the school’s continued efforts to prioritise physical activity as an integral part of its curriculum, reinforcing its mission to empower learners through therapeutic education and holistic development.
